Gateway Expressway I-275 South of Gandy Boulevard to North of 4th Street North
The overall project includes a new four-lane elevated tolled expressway from the Bayside Bridge and US 19 to I-275. American designed “Segment 3” of the project from US 19 to 49th Street and includes design of roadway, express lanes, frontage roads, maintenance of traffic, drainage, signing and pavement marking, two-third level steel box girder flyover bridges with spans up to 334 feet, five FIB bridges, and one flat slab bridge reconstruction. American’s innovative design and approved ATC eliminated nearly 75 percent of the fracture critical bridge elements for the two flyover ramps and significantly reduced costs as well as the elimination of two straddle bents, thus reducing traffic impacts during construction. American is also leading the environmental, USACE, SWFWMD, and FDEP permitting, and PD&E reevaluations required for the entire $545 million project.
